With a current membership growing up to 400 strong, TEAM has been in existence for more than half a century. The Association was inaugurated on 14 December 1955 initially in the name of The Federation of Malaya Timber Exporters’ Association (FMTEA). Subsequently, after the incorporation of Malaysia to cover the then Malaya (more commonly known nowadays as Peninsular Malaysia), Sabah & Sarawak, the Association had its name changed on 10 September 1984 to The Timber Exporters’ Association of Malaysia (TEAM). The Association is governed by a Management Committee (including Honorary Internal Auditors) headed by a President and members of the Committee together with the Auditors are elected by members for a term of two years.
PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVES OF TEAM
- To strive to improve the conditions of the timber export trade with particular reference to Peninsular Malaysia
- To advocate, support, negotiate on, object to, legislation affecting the timber export trade
PRINCIPLES OF TEAM
- TEAM represents the interests of all exporters of timber and timber products in particular in Peninsular Malaysia
- TEAM works together with the Malaysian Government Authorities with regard to policies and measures dealing with the timber industry in Peninsular Malaysia in general but with particular attention to the timber export trade from this part of Malaysia
